Takada Seed breeds own onion varieties at own experimental farms from those period.
Our aim is to develop high yield and good taste onion that will support growers benefit growing our varieties.
We believe that the daily records accumulated by our company are very important for the development of new varieties, for the delivery of stable quality seeds to growers, and for influence by climate change.
Takada Seed has been breeding onion from 1946 soon after World War II, Together with The public and private sectors, we had selected onion strains from the Senshu area and introduced a succession of varieties such as Hayadori Yellow, Hatsutama, Opal, and Fuyutama, which were well received in onion production areas throughout Japan long time. Around 1970, we started breeding F1 varieties using male sterility, and bred Senshu Kogane, Senshu Fuji, and Izumitaka. We also bred Reiho, Kentama, and Kenzo as early F1 varieties.
EX Star, Spring Star, Ocean, and Red Moon are exported and sold not only domestically, but also to East Asia, Southern Europe, the Middle East, USA, South America, South Africa, and so on.
The new large variety Senshu no Chikara(TF-081), which can be harvested at the end of May in Japan which won the Gold Award at the Aichi Prefecture Variety Review Meeting for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018. We are currently selling the variety in several countries as high yield variety .
